SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2023/24

 

We are pleased to announce the limited availability of scholarship grants to assist needy persons accepted for study at Discipleship Training Centre. Each grant will cover up to 50% of the applicable course fees payable for the entire period of study. Airfare, books, mission trips and expenses of a personal nature are not covered. The continual award of the grant for subsequent year of study is subject to good academic performance and the recommendation of the Faculty.

ADMISSIONS
1. DECIDE ON A PROGRAMME

GRADUATE PROGRAMMES ACCREDITED BY THE ASIA THEOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Master of Christian Ministry (MCM)

​

A 2-year programme for students who are graduates from tertiary institutions or have the professional equivalent and working experience. Students are required to obtain 60 credits.

Graduate Diploma in

Intercultural Studies (GDIS)

A 1-year programme designed for those who see themselves in ministry or work in a cross-cultural context. Students must be graduates from tertiary institutions or have the professional equivalent and working experience. Students are required to obtain 30 credits.

Master of Christian Studies (MCS)

Students who have completed the 2-year Master of Christian Ministry programme (or its former equivalent Graduate Diploma in Christian Ministry) with a minimum B+ average may take this programme, which is by dissertation only.

STUDY PROGRAMMES NOT ACCREDITED BY THE ASIA THEOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Diploma in Christian Ministry

This is a two-year programme for students who do not have a degree from tertiary institutions or the professional equivalent. Students are required to obtain 60 credits.

Certificate in Christian Ministry

Students who complete one full year of the Diploma in Christian Ministry may be awarded the Certificate in Christian Ministry. Students need to complete 30 credits.

Sabbatical Studies Programme

This is a post-seminary and post-field course designed for those wishing to review, reflect and refresh through course attendance, writing or guided personal reflection or self-study. The duration could be one or two semesters, or a period of six to nine months.

2. COURSE FEES

THE FEES FOR ONE YEAR IS AS FOLLOWS:

TIER 1

S$12,000 (for students from United States, Canada, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, United Kingdom and Western Europe)

TIER 2

S$10,000 (for students from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, People’s Republic of China and India)

TIER 3

S$8,000 (for students from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines and others

  1. Twenty-five per cent (25%) of the amount payable are course fees and the remaining for board and lodging.

  2. Students also need extra money for personal expenses (about S$150 per month), books (at least S$200 per year) and a yearly mission trip [S$300 to $800, depending on destination(s)]. In addition, students will need to be covered under a medical insurance scheme, which costs around S$230 per person per year. There are different rates for families.

  3. Foreign students require a Student Pass to study in Singapore and are responsible for payment of all fees relating to the application of the Pass. Fees payable to ICA, excluding incidentals, amount to S$120 per year for male students and S$240 per year for female students.

  4. Foreign students need to undergo a medical examination and chest X-ray costing about S$100 before obtaining the Student Pass.

  5. Additionally a refundable security deposit in the form of a banker’s guarantee secured by a fixed deposit varying from S$1,000 to S$5,000 is to be issued to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) by the students for the duration of their stay in Singapore.  A one-time fee of about S$120 to S$200 will be levied by the bank.

  6. Students who wish to stay at DTC in December and/or June, need to pay S$300 for each of these months for lodging (no board i.e. no food will be provided). It may be possible to arrange for students to do jobs at DTC in lieu of part or the whole of the S$300 for each of these months.

3. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

THOSE WHO WISH TO COME TO DTC MUST HAVE:

  • a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

  • the endorsement of a local church and/or Christian organization

  • a good working knowledge of English: TOEFL 80 (IBT), 550 (PBT), IELTS 6.0 or equivalent for Master of Christian Ministry & Graduate Diploma in Intercultural Studies.

  • tertiary education or professional equivalent plus working experience.
