DTC WELCOMES NEW FACULTY

Dr Martus Maleachi believes that, after years in theological education, the most crucial element in preparing men and women for Christian ministry is the readiness of the mind and heart. This goal can only be reached when both faculty and students grow together as disciples of Christ. That is why he felt called to serve in DTC, as he shares the school’s vision of theological training: a life-sharing community fostered in a small setting.

Martus' Story

Martus grew up as a pastor’s kid in Indonesia. It was two years prior to finishing high school that the Lord called him to follow in his father’s footsteps. He attended Southeast Asia Bible Seminary (SAAT) in Malang to receive his initial theological training.

Upon his graduation, Martus served as an associate pastor at Grace Indonesian Christian Church in Bandung (1992–1995). He then joined the faculty at SAAT, his alma mater, for 25 years (1995–2020). Martus was president of the seminary from 2015 to 2020. After finishing his presidential term, he worked in the marketplace while preparing to become a missionary with SIM. Martus and his wife, Suriati, served as missionaries in Kenya from 2022 to 2025, where they taught at the International Leadership University in Nairobi and Moffat Bible College in Kijabe.

Martus completed his graduate studies at Calvin Theological Seminary (MTS, 1998, and ThM, 2000) and his doctoral studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (PhD, 2010). His area of interest is the Old Testament.

In Singapore, Martus and Suriati are part of the Indonesian Presbyterian Church in Bukit Batok.  Martus and Suriati are blessed with two grown-up daughters, Shalomita and Tamadea (married to Philip).
