DTC COURSES FOR AUDIT
Term 4: 17 March to 8 May 2026

The Letter to the Romans
Thursday, 8.40am to 10.40am
March 19, 26; April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30; May 7
In his close reading of Romans, Martin Luther found that a person is justified by faith. Furthermore, the commentaries on Romans by Martin Luther and John Calvin helped to shape Protestant Reformation. Therefore, the letter to the Romans is arguably Paul’s most important letter in the history of the church and it continues to have an influence on the church today.
This course will give an overall biblical survey of the letter, addressing its context, purposes and audience. It will also examine important themes such as righteousness, justification, sin, faith, the question of Israel, women and the Christian behavior. For each lesson, we will draw its meaning and application for Christian witness in church and society.

&
Tuesday, 10.55am to 12.55pm
March 31, April 28
The book of Judges in the Old Testament tells of the leaders that God raised up to deliver Israel from their enemies remaining in the Promised Land. Written to show the consequences of religious unfaithfulness, the book also points the way to a king who would lead the people to God.
The course aims for students to gain knowledge about the book’s message and themes, and its significance in the light of the whole biblical canon; be more skillful at interpreting historiographical narrative, including questions of selectivity, literary artistry, and the author’s theology; and understand the historical context and how it fits into God's redemptive plan. Finally, the course aims to integrate biblical knowledge into a ministry setting in the local church context.
